How to Export Your Course
”Backup of Content Only”

 

The export course feature creates a ZIP file of your course content that can later be imported back into Blackboard.  The export
feature is new to BB6, and is different than the archive feature found previously in Blackboard 5.5.  Please note, when you export a
course, it does not include any of the user interactions with the course – the export file only includes course content. 

  1. Login to Blackboard and enter the course where you would like export your Blackboard course content.

  2. Click on Control Panel link


  3. Click on Export Course link under the Course Options (lower left hand side of the control panel)


  4. Select which areas of content to export, by clicking on each checkbox next to each area you wish to include in the
    export of your course.

    1. Content: selecting this item will backup - announcements, assignments, course documents, course information,
      staff information, and external links.
    2. Course Settings: selecting this item will backup - navigation buttons, course entry point, tools, and communication areas.
    3. Discussion Board: selecting this item will backup - the discussion forums but not the messages.
    4. Grade book: selecting this item will backup - the columns (or items) but not the student roster or students grades.
    5. Groups: selecting this item will backup - group names and discussion forums but not the group members.
    6. Tests, Surveys, and pools: selecting this item will backup - all quizzes, exams, and surveys will be included.
  5. Click the  button and Blackboard will create the Zip file for download.

  6. Click on the link as shown below to download the complete backup of your course:
  7. You will be prompted to either open or save the archive file - Click the Save button


  8. Next the file dialog box will appear - navigate to where you want to save your course shell archive on your computer
    and then Click the Save button.

  9. Once, file has finished downloading from the previous step, click the  button to finish the archive procedure.
