Welcome to the Introduction to Blackboard online course.
About Course
The purpose of this course is to provide faculty, who have little to no experience using Blackboard, an online resource to learn the essential technical elements needed to operate within Blackboard’s course environment.
This course has been setup to address the needs of faculty who do not have time to attend face-to-face training, but still need to learn the basics of Blackboard.
Although this course does have some best practice tips, keep in mind the focus of this course will be on the technical how-to's of using Blackboard.
How is The Course Structured?
The course is setup as a self-paced course. You will be able to work through the units when your schedule allows. It’s an open entry open exit course.
The Introduction to Blackboard online course is comprised of five units of self-paced instruction.
- Each unit will provide instruction through the use of demonstration videos, as well as hands-on interactive videos that allow you as the viewer to actually practice the task being presented.
- In order to successfully complete and receive credit for this course, you will have to pass all unit assessments with an 80% or better.
Course Prerequisites
There are currently no prerequisites for the ITIB-0100-WEB Course. This course is only being offered to active employees at Columbus State Community College.
Course Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define the purpose of Blackboard and explain the proper type of Internet browser needed to successfully use Blackboard based on the computer being a PC or Mac.
- Communicate where and how to login/logout of Blackboard.
- Define the purpose of a course’s menu area and identify the proper type of menu button to use for content areas, course tools, and websites outside of CSCC/Blackboard.
- Select the proper method of creating, editing, and deleting Blackboard course menu buttons for a given course.
- Select the proper method for creating, editing, and deleting Blackboard course announcements for a given course.
- Define the document file types to use when placing content on Blackboard as well as explain the reason the two file types should be used.
- Carryout the steps necessary to add and delete course syllabus file(s) for given Blackboard course shell.
- Select the proper method for creating, editing, deleting, and labeling course content folders using the information and best practice tips presented during this course.
