Faculty may choose to use LockDown Browser (LDB) and allow students to test with faculty proctoring in a classroom with computers. LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Blackboard. When students use LockDown Browser to access a test, they are unable to print, copy, visit other websites, access other applications, or close a test until it is submitted for grading. Tests created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers.
LDB requires that the student have access to a laptop or desktop computer. Windows computers, Mac computers, and Chromebooks work with LDB. (Note: iPads, tablets, and smartphones will not work due to the limitations of Blackboard and LDB.) Students need to download LDB to their computers. The URL for Columbus State’s LockDown Browser is https://cs-cc.net/lockdown
If an instructor has a student who does not have a computer for testing, they may contact the Testing Center and ask that they administer the test to the student.
Below are instructions on how to set up LockDown Browser.
